About Pokemon Types

Each Pokemon and its moves have a Type. The type of a move factors in how much damage it does against an opponent Pokemon - some types deal double damage, some deal reduced damage, and others have no effect at all.

Types have elemental or energy properties and logically beat out other types: Fire burns Grass, Water puts out Fire, Grass absorbs Water, Psychic beats Fighting (brains over brawn), Ground neutralizes Electric, Rock beats out Flying (stones and birds), Fire melts Steel.

Using types wisely can turn the tide of a battle. You can plan your team to maximize type coverage, exploit enemy weaknesses, and hit hard when it counts! The right type at the right time can make even a weaker Pokemon into a Champion, so always be sure to consider the types on the battlefield before making your move.
